To get started, you'll need a BIOS image dumped from your own PlayStation 2 console—this is required and not optional. Use a homebrew tool like biosdrain to extract your BIOS, then load your game disc images (ISO, CHD, or CSO formats) directly onto your device. AetherSX2 respects your ownership: emulation only works with games you personally own and have dumped yourself.

Performance matters when emulating console hardware. Your device needs significant processing power to run games smoothly—we recommend at least a Snapdragon 845-equivalent processor or better, with four large cores rated 500+ on Geekbench 5 single-core tests. High-end smartphones and tablets will deliver the best experience.
